As an Amendment Specialist (Health Services Consultant 1) with the Department of Health, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of vital records that affect Washington residents' access to essential services. Whether it’s processing amendments, providing technical guidance, or ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, your work will directly impact individuals needing corrections or updates to birth, death, marriage, and adoption records. This position allows you to develop specialized expertise while contributing to public health initiatives. Key Responsibilities Include: Providing technical assistance and guidance to the public, legal professionals, health practitioners, and government agencies regarding amendments to vital records. Reviewing and evaluating amendment requests for compliance with state and federal laws, including changes related to adoption, parentage, and name corrections. Researching and resolving complex issues, including cases requiring legal orders, and providing clear, actionable next steps to customers. Updating and maintaining the Washington Health and Life Events System (WHALES) vital records database to reflect approved amendments and corrections. Ensuring compliance with privacy regulations while maintaining the security and accuracy of sensitive records. Collaborating with internal and external partners to improve processes and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
